Journeys Skeptics

Hey, Friend! Do you consider yourself a skeptic or atheist?

Consider

If so, what’s the foundation of your perspective? Do you believe that science has definitively disproved God? Or that the world’s painful injustices and evil cancel out the possibility of a good and powerful Creator? Or are you assuming that “all religions are the same”? Okay. Where’s your proof?

Got Spiritual Curiosity?

Life is hectic, right? We’re all looking for answers — shortcuts, mostly — to make sense of ourselves, the world, and the big “Why am I here?” questions. Many claim to have the answers.

Just as in Jesus’ day, many are using their power and platforms to ignite and manipulate our thoughts and emotions. Rage and fear flow unabated, like we’re collectively stuck in a frenzied, soul-sucking pinball game that’s exhausting.

Where can we turn for a deep, cleansing breath? Who or what can give us REAL reassurance that we’re accepted, loved, supported? That it’s all going to be okay? Technology? Science? Self-help books? Religion?

If you just rolled your eyes at the religion option, we get it. Josh McDowell himself used to take great pleasure in asserting, “Religion is a crutch for weak people!” Josh was doggedly attached to intellectualism, despite being very aware that cold, hard facts and his personal “truth” weren’t providing the confidence, self-love, and purpose he desperately craved.

So Josh kicked the tires of Christianity — which forced him to get intellectually honest. Josh had to finally admit that his judgment of God was fueling his emotional resistance.

Was it easy for Josh to surrender his long-held anger and bias? No. It was a daily process. But worth it, because he now personally knew what the facts unwaveringly proved: Jesus Christ had risen. And because of that, what Jesus said about God’s love for him could be trusted.

Josh’s challenge to you, friend: Don’t just say you’re a skeptic, be intellectually honest and research the historical facts of Christianity *with* an open mind and *without* your confirmation bias and ego.

We’ve made it easy for you to get started: Trace the journey that Josh himself took. See below!
