Deploying strategic resources to meet the high demand for theology training across Southern Africa requires a unified foundation. By grounding local leaders in the essential truths of the Christian faith, we are transforming a lack of formal education into bold, reproducible ministry influence.

Filling the Theological Void: Our Southern Africa Journey

In February 2024, Sightline representative Young Lee embarked on a vital vision and training tour across Mozambique, Eswatini, South Africa, and Namibia. Across this vast region, local church networks, Cru staff, and volunteer leaders are facing a challenging reality. While the desire for spiritual growth is strong, accessible training resources remain extremely scarce.

Our focus during this tour was simple: deliver clarity. By establishing a comprehensive curriculum that addresses truth, evidence, and practical daily living, we are empowering national leaders to move past uncertainty. This investment builds an enduring spiritual infrastructure capable of discipling the next generation with unshakeable confidence.

Methodist Circuit Leadership

From Classrooms to Congregations: Strengthening the African Church

Certifying Lay Preachers in Mozambique

Activity: Hosted a specialized introduction to theology intensive in Maputo for the Methodist Church of Southern Africa.
Impact: Equipped 40 lay preachers, bishops, and circuit superintendents using our foundational curriculum. Lectures focused directly on the essential truths of the Christian faith, establishing sound parameters for character, salvation, and Theology Proper. Handed out copies of the training guide to ensure long-term, local multiplication.

Corporate Proclamation in Swaziland

Activity: Sunday church service teaching block in Mbabane.
Impact: Proclaimed the clear, encouraging gospel message to an attentive, English-speaking congregation at Mbabane Town Church.

Academic Seminars in South Africa

Activity: Conducted on-campus theological training modules at the Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary near Durban.
Impact: Taught nearly the entire on-campus student population of 55–60 full-time students at the only accredited seminary in Southern Africa. Seminars dove deep into John Wesley’s theology and the intense spiritual battle between human pride and Christlike humility. The seminary president highly appreciated the material and requested the manuscript to publish in their regional newsletter.

Field Spotlight: Windhoek, Namibia

A Vision for Namibia’s Pastors

True kingdom expansion happens when we listen closely to the urgent needs of the local church. In Windhoek, Namibia, the Sightline team met directly with national leadership to assess the critical landscape of their growing ministry networks.

The team connected with Namibia CCC Team Leader Sydney Nowaseb to evaluate their most compelling needs. Currently, the vast majority of local church leaders, Cru staff, and volunteer leaders operate with little to no formal theological education. Upon introducing our training materials—which seamlessly weave together theology, apologetics, and real-world application—the leadership instantly recognized it as the perfect tool to spark spiritual maturity through local Global Church Movements. Sydney is actively working to follow up with a concrete operational training plan moving forward.
